Workshop Summary

Shipbuilding has always been important in the region and in this workshop we shall explore why.

KS1: We will explore ships displayed in the museum and objects found on ships before moving to the classroom where we explore floating and sinking. To finish the session students work in groups to select the best materials to build a boat.

KS2: The children will get the chance to explore the different jobs on a shipyard with a focus on Loftsmen and Riveting. The class will then work in small groups to spend a £100 budget to create a ship that holds the most cargo possible.
