Eat, Drink and be Married

Getting married? We'd like to propose something a little different.

Here at Discovery Museum we can offer you and your guests something truly unique and unlike any other venue in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Great Hall, Turbinia Atrium, Science Maze and Turbinia Cafe are all licensed for civil ceremonies and offer a unique backdrop for your special day.

The Great Hall is our magical art-deco space at the top of the museum and is one of the building's original features. It has capacity for up to 350 guests and can be transformed into a stunning setting for ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and evening receptions.

The Turbinia Atrium is home to Turbinia, once the fastest ship in the world. You can dine alongside Turbinia or hold your drinks reception here whilst having photographs around the museum before a wedding breakfast in the Great Hall.

The Turbinia Cafe overlooks the Story of the Tyne gallery and can be used for more intimate wedding breakfasts, drinks and evening receptions as well as smaller wedding ceremonies. It can accommodate guest lists of up to 100.

You can also dine amongst the exhibits on display in the Story of the Tyne gallery if you are holding a smaller wedding of up to 100 guests.

The Science Maze held Discovery Museum's first ever wedding when it featured on BBC's Don't Tell the Bride in November 2011. The space can be transformed for ceremonies and guests have the opportunity to play on the numerous interactive exhibits.

For more information you can now visit our new weddings website.
