Workshop Summary

Over the next three years, Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) will contribute to the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage project, a national partnership, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and led by the British Library, to save almost half a million rare and unique recordings that are threatened by physical degradation or stored on formats that can no longer be played.

To celebrate this exciting new project we have developed a new sound based workshop for KS1 and KS2, during this workshop students will learn about sound, where it comes from and how we hear plus some of the inventions in sound technology and sound science since the very first experiments in sound recordings in 1877 by Edison.

Students will also have their own opportunity to experiment and make visual sound objects.
