Workshop Summary

This workshop is a great hands-on investigation into Victorian Newcastle through the events of the Great fire of Newcastle and Gateshead in 1854. Pupils will hear the story of the Great fire based on local accounts of the event and will get to investigate real Victorian objects and costume.

Children will then re-enact the story through our puppet theatre. The session can be used as an alternative study to the Great Fire of London while linking to Victorian Britain topic work.
