Discovery Museum celebrates North East Culture Awards win
North East Museums has won the Best Arts & Business Partnership Award for Discovery Museum’s Steam to Green programme.

North East Museums has won the Best Arts & Business Partnership Award in 2024’s North East Culture Awards for Discovery Museum’s Steam to Green programme, which saw the museum work with multiple partners and sponsors across the green energy and travel sector.

“It was a brilliant evening at the North East Culture Awards celebrating the talent and creativity of the people and organisations working in the region’s cultural sector.

Steam to Green is an ambitious two-year programme
Steam to Green: A North East Energy Revolution was created in partnership with Newcastle University. An ambitious two-year programme curated by Kylea Little, Keeper of History at Discovery Museum, it features an exhibition, adult and family event programme and career fairs highlighting pathways for opportunities in green energy.
The headline sponsor of the exhibition is Vattenfall, a leading European energy company, employing 100 staff across the North East.
Lumo Travel, Tyne and Wear Metro and Northumbrian Water are also exhibition sponsors and 17 other businesses contributed objects, expertise, and content.
Steam to Green is also supported by Newcastle University, Faraday Challenge, Reece Foundation, The Headley Trust, Friends of Discovery Museum, and the Art Fund.
North East Museums scooped Best Arts & Business Partnership in 2023 with The Lindisfarne Gospels/ Ad Gefrin partnership, and in 2022 with Ways to Play/ Tyne and Wear Metro partnership.
