About

Author Bryan Talbot will be discussing his Grandville graphic novel series of steampunk detective thrillers and the venerable and ongoing tradition of anthropomorphic characters in illustration and comics from which they have grown, pointing out references to this tradition and 19th century art within the Grandville books themselves.

Bryan Talbot has written and drawn comics and graphic novels for over 30 years, including Judge Dredd, Batman, Sandman, The Adventures of Luther Arkwright, The Tale of One Bad Rat, Alice in Sunderland, Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes (written by Mary Talbot and the winner of the 2013 Costa Biography Award) and his current Grandville series of steampunk detective thrillers.

This event is part of the Fabricating History exhibition programme.
