What is Arts Award?
Arts Award is a set of qualifications for anyone between the age of 5 and 25 to take part in. Participants complete portfolios of work which encourage them to develop as an artist.
Participating in Arts Award young people get to:
- discover the enjoyment of creating and participating in any art form
- develop their creativity and leadership skills
- learn new skills and share them with others
The Arts Award website has more information and access to support materials to help you on your Arts Award journey.
What level can we complete?
The Discovery Museum are providing the opportunity for young people to complete the Explore Level Award.
Explore is an entry Level 3 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is the perfect steppingstone to the Level 1 qualification, Bronze Arts Award.
How do we complete the work?
Arts Award Explore is separated into four sections: Inspire, Explore, Create and Present.
Part A – Take part in art activities, tell us about them and how you have been inspired.
Part B – Explore the work of an artist and their life. Explore an arts organisation.
Part C – Participate in an art activity, document the steps you took to create your final piece.
Part D – Share your Arts Award project. This can be to one or more person. Identify what you have enjoyed and achieved.
The booklet provides questions and guidance to support your young artists arts award project. You can follow this booklet or create your own version. Make sure to include lots of evidence throughout, this can be in the form of photographs, tickets, screenshots, vides; basically anything that shows what you have been up-to.
